Imbolc marks the first signs of spring as new growth emerges from the Earth.
It is a celebration of Light, acknowledging the return of the sun and promise of abundance.  

This seasonal gateway is symbolized by the interplay of the young god and goddess who see each other for the first time. This first glance, igniting passion and desire, represents the budding of seeds beneath the earth. 

The witch’s festival of Imbolc honours the Goddess Brigid, the divine embodiment of poetry, healing and smithcraft. Her magick truth is experienced through creative inspiration, through the binding and restoring of things and through prophesy.  

Traditional charms of the sabbat include the making of corn dollies to represent the Goddess of the past or the future, the young, the old, the growth, and the decline. During the weaving and binding of the corn husk into a divine symbol, otherworldly energy envelopes the maker: time has no meaning as if in a dream, you are in the moment, and for that moment, at peace.
