Spring Equinox: Ostara: Witch’s Sabbat
23rd of September 2025
Wheel of the Year:
The witch’s eight sabbats are an interplay of beginnings and endings depicted by the rise and fall of the Goddess and the God.
The Earth is changing, blooming once more.
Day and night are equal at the equinox; it is a seasonal gateway. The Saxon Goddess Ostara is associated with this time. She embodies the ripeness and beauty of the season. Her companion is the moon-struck hare, an egg waits in her womb.
The new religion claimed this pagan festival as Easter, a story also of new life. The motifs of the egg and rabbit remain, and the timing of Easter is set according to the moon.
Feel the warmth of the new season and bring the fertility of Nature into your heart and mind. Listen to the birds and say hello to the moon.
A Spell:
Offer flowers and fruit to the Spring Goddess.
Paint an egg as a charm of abundance.
