Beltane
A Witch’s Sabbat
31st October 2025 (Southern Hemisphere)
Beltane is one of the eight sabbats on the Wheel of the Year.
It is a celebration of sexuality and pleasure. Now the God and Goddess finally consummate desire. Their divine conception is embodied in the fertility of the season. Spring calls in the light, the scent of blossom, baby birds and new growth. Optimism, sensuality and joy wakes within, the new warmth brings comfort. In the Northern Hemisphere, Beltane Eve falls on the 30th April.
This ancient festival is still celebrated with processions of the May Queen and King, wearing crowns of flowers and carrying symbols of the earth. The May King is the personification of Nature known as the Green Man. The May Queen depicts the new season of fertility in victory over the old Goddess of Winter.
With the rise of nature’s power, the faery folk are out in force at Beltane. Bells are rung to deter the fae from meddling with the human world. Beltane and Samhain have much in common as the proximity of the human and spirit world are close. Both are an interplay of life and death. At both Sabbats the Veil between the worlds is at its finest and the faery gates open.
The sabbat of Beltane is a time to be free from worry and to embrace
romance, mischief, and sensuality.

A Beltane Spell:
To invoke joy, ring a bell to invoke the fae.
Make an offering of a pin and thread for them.
Light a green candle and wear patchouli oil on your heart to heighten romance.
